Haiti - Politic : The opposition calls for the mobilization until the resignation of Jovenel Moïse

The "democratic and popular" Movement, which brings together some twenty opposition political parties resulting from the agreement signed in Arcahaie on August 19, 2017, notes the resignation of Prime Minister Lafontant following the events that took place in Haiti from July 6 to 8, 2018. For the opposition, during these 3 days "the Haitian population has manifested with much bursts, its rejection of Jovenel Moise and its Politics," declared Me André Michel, one of the initiators of this movement, adding "never again, things will never again as before in this country" emphasizing "by the way, vital sectors of the Nation, in their expressed positions, all recognized the collapse of the leadership of the Executive."

The opposition believes that the resignation of the Prime Minister, does not correspond to the current political dynamics affirming "To accept the resignation of the Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant as a solution while maintaining Jovenel Moïse in power, is to hang on to a catastrophic present by afraid to invent the future."

Me André Michel recalls "at this crucial phase of the political struggle, aware that the Parliament of the PHTK and its allies, real branch of the executive, can play no role in the resolution of this political crisis, the Democratic and Popular sector [ ...] in the near future, after consultations and discussions with all the signatories of the commitment agreement for unity [of the opposition], will propose to the Nation a proposal for a way out of the crisis capable of guaranteeing a future better to future generations," concluding "the Democratic and Popular Sector calls for the continuation of the mobilization until the resignation of Jovenel Moïse."
