Last week the Dominican driver of a minibus, Agustín Torres and his 18 Haitian passengers (11 men, 4 women and 3 children) were arrested during a migratory control by members of the Dominican army in the community of Sabaneta, Province of Santiago Rodríguez.

The 18 Haitians were carrying false papers, they explained to the Dominican authorities, that they had paid in Haiti the equivalent of 25,000 to 30,000 pesos to obtain these documents but that they were convinced that they were legal documents... The Haitians were handed over to Migration authorities for repatriation to Haiti, while the driver of the minibus was made available to the public prosecutor's office, said Colonel Jose Manuel Duran Infante, commander of the Fourth Brigade with headquarters in Mao.
