The Technical Unit of Seismology (UTS) of the Bureau of Mines and Energy (BME), by the voice of its Director General, Claude Preptit, associates with the Ministry of the Environment (MDE) and the Permanent Secretariat of Risk and Disaster Management (SPGRD) to inform that on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 11:44:32 am, local time, a slight earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Department of Nippes. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at sea 4.5 km north-east of Anse-à-Veau at a depth of 12 km.

No damage was reported by the authorities.
