Haiti - FLASH : Violent clashes in Limbé, several dead and houses burned

On the night from Saturday, December 22, to Sunday, December 23, following the shooting of "Bouligan" a fierce opponent of the Deputy Frandy Louis (VERITE), by 2 unidentified individuals on a motorcycle, clashes of a rare violence broke out in Limbé (North Dept.) between the partisans of the victim who shouted vengeance and those of the Deputy.

Supporters of "Bouligan" in anger, to avenge his death set fire to the residence of Jacot Leroi that relatives of the victim accuses to be the murderer (a close friend of the Deputy Frandy Louis pointed by the public clamor, as a sponsor of this assassination).

Several other houses were burned, including that of the deputy's mother, that of Jaco Leroi and that of a brother of the representative of the commune in Parliament. faced with this outburst of violence several residents fearing for their lives fled the area, while sporadic gunfire was reported in the city.

During the clashes of the two armed groups, 3 to 5 dead, including the two brothers of Jaco Leroi were killed, several people were injured and between 6 and 15 houses burned, a record not confirmed by official sources.

The Police arrived very late on the scene could not do anything before the unleashing of violence between heavily armed individuals. No arrest has been reported officially. A situation of tension that prevailed until the early morning Sunday, when Limbé has found calm...
