An important working meeting was held between the officials of the Ministry of National Education and those of the Ministry of the Environment; at the origin of the national reforestation project through the schools https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27287-haiti-environment-soon-start-of-the-reforestation-project-through-schools.html

Presided by Sonia Orismé, the Departmental Director of the West of the Environment, the main objective of this meeting was to define the best strategy to achieve the success of this program of reforestation that is permanent, through the students.

The finalization of the ongoing process for the planting strategy in the sites identified at the level of the targeted communes and the measures to be taken to carry out this program and the planning of preparatory activities for the organization of the three days of national mobilization planned for planting seedlings on April 25-26-27 (produced in Plant Propagation Centers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25224-haiti-environment-inauguration-of-the-3rd-plant-propagation-center.html ) were at the center of the exchanges. All agree to move in the same direction in this citizen action, which is part of the dynamics of environmental education.

It was agreed that on the 16th of April, field meetings will be held to finalize and identify the seedlings to be planted in each of the already selected areas and to evaluate the number of schools and students mobilized.

From April 22, the days leading up to the April 25 beginning of the national activity, will be dedicated to the mobilization of students and teachers on the merits of this joint program initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Education, supported by other the ministries (Agriculture, Public Works and Interior among others).

Remember that the first day of national mobilization of planting will be Thursday, April 25, 2019 instead of Monday, April 22, originally scheduled after Easter Sunday, to take into account cultural and religious activities that could have a negative impact about the mobilization and success of the event.
