Haiti - Sports : The Minister notes the deplorable state of sports facilities in the country

Edwing Charles, the Minister of Youth and Sports continued his tour this weekend, of the state of sports infrastructure in the departments of South and Southeast and Nippes.

These visits allowed the Minister to note the deplorable state of many spaces that could have facilitated the development of school sport, the youth championships and serve as reception facilities for clubs involved in local and regional competitions.

The Stadium of Cayes-Jacmel, the Sports Complex of Jacmel, the Parks Larco and Land of the Gabions of Les Cayes, the Park of Olives of Saint Louis du Sud, the Park Serge Bernadel of Miragoâne are out of order or operate in conditions irregular. Rehabilitation work, routine maintenance, effective and efficient management is an urgent matter.

Minister Charles thought it inconceivable that infrastructure that cost millions faces serious problems and becomes impracticable for lack of maintenance. He invited officials to apply the concepts learned during the last training offered by the Ministry on the management of sports infrastructure. He also asked them to make arrangements for the funds generated by the facilities to keep them in excellent condition.

Sunday, April 28, during his visit to Saint Louis du Sud, he spoke with young people and gave them foot, volley and basket balls, wishing that their work turns them into professional athletes able to represent the country to international competitions.

Subsequently, Charles went to Aquin to check the progress of the local multisport field, which will help the development of mass sport and the organization of activities for the benefit of the youth of the commune and the surrounding areas.
