Haiti - Politic : The INITE Party founded by Préval, no longer exists

Following an extraordinary General Assembly in mid-April, the founding members of the political party INITE decided to officially dissolve the INITE Party and informed Jean Roody Aly, the Minister of Justice of this decision, in accordance with the law of 16 January 2014 on the formation, operation and financing of political parties.

"[...] It was decided to dissolve the Party and as a result, the INITE Party was regularly dissolved irreversibly with the consequences of the law," said the letter to Minister Aly, a copy of which was sent to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), which states "[...] In accordance with Resolution No. 2, appointing the Sieur and Lady, Jean Dieudonné Lubin and Rosemila Saint-Vil Petit-Frère liquidators of the patrimony of the dissolved party, thus, they invite the ministry of the justice, by the service intended for this purpose to come to supervise the conformity of the whole process of the liquidation which will follow [...]"

According to members of the INITE Party, misunderstandings, a deep division and endless accusations would be the basis of this decision.

Recall that the right-wing party INITE was founded by former President René Préval in 2005. Originally called the Front of Hope (a coalition of former members of Fanmi Lavalas led by Jean-Bertrand Aristide) it is only in 2010 that the Party will change its name to INITE.
