Haiti - FLASH : Statement of General Policy postponed «Sine die»

The Special Senate Committee in charge of analyzing the documents of Prime Minister-designate Jean Michel Lapin and his ministerial cabinet, decided yesterday Wednesday to postpone the ratification session of the General Policy scheduled for Thursday, May 9.

According to Senator Joseph Willot, the Commission did not receive the full composition of the new Government in time, in which 8 ministers of the previous administration were renewed https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27677-haiti-flash-members-of-government-lapin.html , stating that names were missing for the ministries of Tourism and Defense.

The cabinet minister's list revealed on Wednesday gave rise to controversy and Gary Bodeau, who led the interpellation of former head of government, Jean Henry Céant, last March, criticized the Head of State for not counting on the deputies to form the new government and threatened to control the situation.

So far, no date has been agreed for the Senate session and experts suggest that the proposed Government could still change, as President Jovenel Moïse has not yet issued a presidential decree to ratify those responsible for the portfolios.

Senator Willot Joseph, expressed the disagreement of the bloc of Parliamentarians for the defense of democracy that would have been consulted on the formation of the Government.
