According to figures provided yesterday Tuesday, by Garry Desrosiers, deputy spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), at a press conference, 22 women and girls including 15 underage were victims of rape in 2 months, from Wednesday, March 20 to Tuesday, May 28, 2019, in the metropolitan area of ​​Port-au-Prince, about ten arrests were made for cases of rape. He invites victims to lodge a complaint against those involved in rape cases.

Also for this period, 10 firearms were seized; 4 police officers were killed while 5 others were wounded by bullets; there were 8 cases of stoning deaths, 6 corpses discovered , 13 presumed bandits mortally wounded and 30 others wounded by bullets were also recorded.

507 people were arrested, 472 of them were brought before a court in cases of attempted assassinations, assassinations, rapes of minors, attempted rapes of minors and robbery, among others... 6 others were transferred to the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ) and 3 to the civil prison of Port-au-Prince.

However, the number of reported rapes represents only a minority of victims, according to statements by Pascale Solages, a feminist activist on a radio in the capital, "at least 10 rapes are committed every day in Haiti".
