Haiti - FLASH : Prime Minister does not intend to resign

Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin, reacting to the recent remarks of Renald Lubérice, one of the advisers of President Jovenel Moïse who had declared that the Prime Minister should resign for failing to get a majority favorable to the ratification of its General Policy to allow the Head of State to appoint a new Prime Minister, for the formation of a new Consensus Government, the Prime Minister declared that he did not intend to resign.

Lapin who downplayed the statement of Renald Lubérice, emphasizes that the statement of Reynald Lubérice is binding only himself. Clarifying "We can not reduce the functioning of the National Palace to a citizen" adding that his resignation has never been evocked with President Moïse with whom he claims to maintain "a 100% sincere cooperation."

Regarding his inability to have a majority in favor of ratification he reminds Lubérice that "no Prime Minister has ever had the chance to get a majority favorable to the ratification of its general policy in Parliament" because it concerns a privilege reserved for the Presidents of both Houses.

While the ratification process is still stalled after 3 sessions postponed by obstruction, violence and vandalism of 4 senators of the radical opposition [Evalière Beauplan (PONT); Antonio Cheramy aka "Don Kato" (VERITE), Ricard Pierre (Piti Dessalin) and Nenel Cassy (Famni Lavalas)] https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27857-haiti-flash-a-session-under-high-security-the-senate-ransacked.html , Lapin said to be waiting with the members of his cabinet for a 4th convocation to present his General Policy.

Concluding "Luberice will have to wait" just like the opposition, that Parliament, as prescribed by the Constitution, democratically sanctions the statement of my general policy while wondering whether it is normal that it is "the law of the minority and not the majority that prevails in Parliament ?"
