Haiti - Politic : The country counts on the OAS to strengthen the capacities of the PNH

During his speech this week at the 49th Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), held this year in Medellín, Colombia (26-28 June), the Haitian Chancellor, Bocchit Edmond, addressed several topics on Haiti in particular: the accompaniment of the international community, the political stability and the process of dialogue, the reconciliation, the elections, the economy, the fight against corruption and the security climate in the country.

On this last point, Chancellor Edmond said he was aware of the challenges to be overcome. "At the security level, in the absence of sufficient resources, it necessarily requires continued support to the National Police of Haiti, especially for the training of recruits and specialized officers, the increase in staff and quality, training for criminal investigation, border protection, law enforcement, community policing, human rights training, customs fraud and the fight against human trafficking," adding that in this regard, the Government of Haiti had requested OAS technical support.
