Haiti - Social : Nearly 200 Haitians denounce the racket of Mexicans at the US border

Nearly 200 migrants from Haiti and other migrants from African countries have denounced the abuses committed by the Mexican authorities during a demonstration in front of the passage "El Chaparral" in Tijuana, on the border with the United-States.

In front of the headquarters of the National Migration Institute (NMI), the migrants asked for an answer to their complaints, in particular the one concerning the perception of a "fee" demanded by supposed staff of the Mexican immigration to register on the waiting lists.

"Mexicans are asking for money to put them on the list," said Alberto Rivera, director of the "Agape World Mission" shelter, who helped migrants translate their complaints and requests. He explained that the migrants denounce the fact that when they arrive to ask for their turn number on the list, Mexican "employees" supposed to belong to the immigration service asked them for money to accelerate their procedures, acts that they described as racket and corruption ...
