Haiti - FLASH : The impeachment session of President Moïse, postponed a second time

Monday in the Chamber of Deputies, the impeachment session of the Head of State, put in continuity under pressure from opposition deputies Wednesday, August 7 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28440-haiti-flash-the-opposition-forces-the-continuation-of-the-indictment-session-of-the-head-of-state.html was scheduled to resume at 11:00 am

However, because of the few members present it was necessary to wait 4:30 pm to proceed with the roll call where only 54 deputies answered present reversing the required quorum. It was only at a second roll call around 5:15 pm that the quorum was obtained with 60 deputies present.

After announcing the start of the session, Speaker Gary Bodeau, informed of tensions outside Parliament, requested a consultation with the Presidents of the three parliamentary blocs. 10 minutes later Deputy Bodeau announced for the second time and after consultation, the put in continuation of the session, invoking tensions and violent clashes between demonstrators and forces near the Parliament, not allowing to have the necessary serenity the smooth running of the session. Indicating that the office would meet to set a new date.

Outside, more than a hundred highly motivated radical opposition protesters, who had come to support the President's indictment, had erected barricades of burning tires in front of the Parliament which was the target of jets stones against the backdrop of hostile slogans against the Head of State and the majority parliamentarians who oppose the indictment of President Jovenel Moïse.

Several cars were vandalized and broken windshields. Several times the protesters clashed with the police deployed in front of the Parliament who had to repel the protesters using tear gas, under stones and bottles ...
