Haiti - Communication : Michel Martelly, supports the «Fourth power»

The elected President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, pays tribute to local and international press on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day this May 3.

On the occasion of this celebration, the President welcomes particularly the work of the Haitian journalists that contribute to establishing the rule of law and to the promotion of democratic values ​​in the country.

Aware of the difficulties and privations of all kinds to which are subjected local press workers in the exercise the their profession, the President Martelly promises to contribute in reinforcing a free and independent press. "I say thank you to the press. Thank you to sell a different image of Haiti. I support this fourth power", he says.

The President-elect takes also this opportunity to reiterate his faith in the construction of a society based on the consolidation of the freedom of expression and the respect of the fundamental rights of the human person.
