Haiti - Politic : «Don Kato», request to declare the state of emergency in Petit-Goâve

In a message broadcast on radio Preference FM, the radical opposition Senator Antonio Chéramy aka "Don Kato" (West, VERITE) expressed sympathy and solidarity with the families of Petit-Goâve who were victims of the floods caused by the torrential rains that fell earlier this week on the city of Faustin Soulouque https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28794-haiti-flash-torrential-rains-petit-goave-and-ganthier-stricken-partial-assessment.html and asked the central authorities to declare the state of emergency of this municipality.

Excerpts from the "Don Kato" Message :

"I extend my sympathies to my friends, affected families and all the victims. I send you this message to tell you that you are not alone and you will never be alone in this difficult moment. I share your sorrows, I am at your side and I stand with you.

I will not make promises that I can not keep. The only thing I can tell you is that I am going to invite the Ministry of Social Affairs to assume its responsibilities [...] This Ministry must consider how the State can intervene urgently in Petit-Goâve.

On this very difficult occasion, the central state must not delegate its own burdens to NGOs. Of course, NGOs can always support [...] but the state is the main concerned.

[...] Given the magnitude of the situation should declare the state of emergency on the town of Petit Goave. There should also be a synergy of actions of 3 Ministries : Social Affairs, Public Works and Women's Conditions to help the families affected in Petit-Goâve [...]

As for the militants of Petit-Goâve, [...] you are united and cooperative. Bring your help [...] Do everything in your power to save lives..."
