Haiti - FLASH : «Insurrectional» situation in Haiti (metropolitan area)

Friday, responding to the call of the radical opposition, several tens of thousands of protesters took the concrete in the capital and several provincial cities, in what seems to have been the largest anti-government mobilization recorded in Haiti since one year, baptized by the senators of the oppoition "Operasyon Moun Fou" to demand the resignation of the Head of State.

Scenes of looting, arson and unheard-of violence were reported all day, causing grief and causing many injuries

The demonstrators, armed with branches, sticks, machetes, axes and some firearms, shouted hostile remarks to the Government.

Barricades were erected with tree trunks, vehicle carcasses and burning tires on the main arteries of the capital paralyzed all activities. Banks, schools, ministries and public offices remained closed. Outings of the capital were also blocked

Partial balance sheet metropolitan area :

In Pétion-ville the protesters threw stones at several buildings and private houses;

Several commercial enterprises in Pétion-ville were ransacked and looted by demonstrators;

Looting and vandalism of shops were found in particular in Delmas 75.

Barricades erected on the Delmas highway blocked the four lanes;

In Delmas used oil was spread on the roadway;

At Delmas 48, a branch of Western Union, was vandalized and looted. Indivius took out Sogebank's ATM cash machine and office equipment.

At Delmas 56, a computer store was looted;

Shops on the Champs de Mars have been vandalized and looted;

Several Haitian National Police (PNH) police stations in Port-au-Prince were ransacked by demonstrators who took equipment including weapons and uniforms.

The base of the Departmental Unit for the Maintenance of Order (UDMO) located in Cité Soleil was looted and burnt;

The car sales company SAFARI MOTORS was the victim of a fire attempt;

The car rental company "AVIS" on the road to Maïs Gâté was burned on the night of Thursday 26 to Friday, September 27, at least 10 cars were completely destroyed by the flames;

The Caribbean Craft Company was also partially set on fire;

Many clashes took place between the manfestants and the police who made intensive use of teargas grenades.

A young man is shot dead in Cité Soleil;

In Cité-soleil, UDMO's body agents allegedly opened fire on demonstrators causing the death of three people (unofficially confirmed);

One are reported 1 dead and 8 wounded in clashes with UDMO agents on the night of Thursday to Friday (not officially confirmed)

No human and material balance has been officially communicated.

This black Friday has undoubtedly caused considerable economic damage to the country and many victims, not to mention the image of a country on the verge of insurrection projected internationally which will take many months to forget the memory...
