Haiti - Weather : Petit-Goâve underwater calls for help

Following the torrential rains that fell in the night from Friday to Saturday, October 19, many neighborhoods of Petit-Goâve including Rue Geffrard, Grand'Rue (Place Soulouque), St. Paul Street, Rue Pétion, Avenue Gaston, Ti Guinean , Chabanne are again under water...

Saturday, October 19, the same victims of the floods of September 18 hhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28794-haiti-flash-torrential-rains-petit-goave-and-ganthier-stricken-partial-assessment.html and other residents, have been hit by flash floods of some rivers that have invaded homes, taking away kitchen utensils, damaging furniture and leaving alluvium and desolation... Residents are hard-pressed for having lost their property, they need of all.

The waters flooded the streets and paralyzed the traffic of vehicles and motorcycles, making even the crossing difficult for the penances.

Temporary partial assessment drawn up by the Deputy Mayor Délor Desgranges :

20 people evacuated to the Lycée Faustin Soulouque's shelter;

6 houses destroyed in Chabanne and 5 near Place Soulouque;

13 head of cattle washed away;

Several streets damaged and covered with alluvium.

In addition, the Deputy Mayor appealed to the central authorities on Radio Préférence FM for equipment "[...] trucks, Backoe loader, excavators, we need this equipment for the collection of debris and clear the roads to facilitate the circulation. We also need help : food, water, clothes, mattresses for the victims whose number stands at the moment at 140 people."

Saturday morning, Me Kébreau Zamor, touched by the cries of distress and disaster relief visited several flooded neighborhoods and distributed to victims of boots and shovels, a gesture of solidarity and humanism that was much appreciated by the victims who ask the Government to intervene immediately in Petit-Goâve, in the affected areas...
