Haiti - Religion : Mgr Max Leroy Mesidor launches a call for wisdom to the political class

Tuesday, responding to the call of the Haitian Conference of the Religious (CRH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29054-haiti-crisis-the-haitian-conference-of-religious-announces-a-great-national-silent-march.html several thousand Catholic faithful leaving Christ-Roi Church, began a peaceful "silent" march in the streets of the capital, joined by many activists and supporters of the opposition and leaders policy.

Some manfiestants waved placards demanding the resignation of the Head of State and made hostile remarks to the Government, others with rosaries prayed for the liberation of Haiti, a march that took place without major incidents and which ended at the Cathedral of Port-au-Prince where a Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Max Leroy Mesidor.

In his homily, the Prelate stressed that the time was serious and the country in danger, before recalling the words of Pope John Paul "Something must change here" during his visit in March 1983 and his ask "36 years after saying that, what has been done to improve the situation of the population ? What are the structures put in place to change the situation of the poor ? What policies are put in place to prioritize the poor ? Something needs to change in this country. As long as this is not the case, there will never be peace.

Faced with the dangers of this serious crisis, the Archbishop appealed to all political actors for wisdom "[...] Faced with this situation of misery and danger, I appeal. I appeal to the Head of State, Government collaborators, parliamentarians, politicians, all those who sincerely want to help Haiti. I beg them, in the name of God, to listen to the voice of wisdom [...] I implore them in the name of God to make the most admirable sacrifices in order to find a quick solution to this crisis."
