Haiti - FLASH : Dead fish and contamination, the Ministry calls for calm

The Ministry of Agriculture, informs the general public, sellers, consumers of seafood, fishermen and fishermen's associations in particular, that sporadic cases of fish mortality in Acul Bay (North) and cases of contamination at Anse-à-Foleur (North-West), were reported during the first half of October 2019.

The Ministry aware of its responsibilities, informs the population that no epidemic or human mortality has been reported so far. However it recalls that any consumption of rotting fish products can cause health problems...

The relevant departmental structures continue to research the causes of these cases.

Jobert C. Angrand the Minister of Agriculture, calls for calm and reiterates his willingness to communicate to the population in particular and the agricultural sector in general, of any information related to this situation.
