Haiti - Politic : National mobilization, failure of the opposition ?

Announced as massive by the main leaders of the radical opposition in the metropolitan area as well as in major cities of the country, including by Me André Michel, the call for national mobilization to demand the resignation of President Moïse was very little followed Sunday by the population and other targeted sectors (doctors, religious, artists, workers, police...)

Nearly a thousand demonstrators took the concrete in Port-au-Prince, reduced demonstrations were also reported in Miragoane, Jacmel and Cap Haitien among others. Burning tires and vandalism in shops and private vehicles have been reported...

In spite of the few demonstrators compared to the mobilizations of the previous weeks, it was above all very motivated militants who trod the macadam. On the road of Delmas protesters masked with scarves or hoods, have vandalized and looted several businesses. Similar drifts have been reported in Pétion-ville where merchants have been threatened and stripped of their meager property...

In the capital, the demonstration ended near the National Palace with its usual lot of confrontation with the police...
