In addition to the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, this measure concerns 29 other personalities and their families, among others : Ministers Vladimir Padrino (Defense), Jorge Arreaza (Foreign Affairs), the #2 of the Socialist Party in power, a dozen officers of the army. Several other Maduro regime allies should be sanctioned and added to the list at the next meeting.

Reacting to the sanctions imposed Maduro qualified the meeting of the member countries of the TIAR as a "meeting of puppets, of clowns".
