This week in Chile, on the L-126 "Los Conquistadores" road near the Pillay-Caliboro crossing, specifically at km 22, a truck violently struck a pickup truck coming from Cauquenes heading towards San Javier, which was carrying workers Haitian and Chilean farmers returning home.

The toll is heavy, 6 passengers were killed in the accident, including 5 Haitian nationals and 15 wounded, including several Haitians who were driven to the emergency base of Linares, according to the mayor of Maule, Pablo Milad.

An investigation was opened to find out the exact circumstances of the accident.

Reacting to this accident, Haiti's Foreign Affairs Minister Bocchit Edmond said "It is with great sadness that I learned of the deaths of five compatriots living in Chile in a road accident. I offer my condolences to the families. The Embassy went on site and began providing assistance. Let's hope that others in hospitals will recover soon."
