On this Christmas day, the former Consul General of Haiti in Chicago Lesly Condé (2004-2018) wishes his all Haitians national and the diaspora, a message that we invite you to share.

"Dear compatriots and friends from everywhere,

I wish you a Merry Christmas 2019. I wish you a peaceful Christmas with your family and friends. After all the efforts made during the year that is ending, it is time to offer you a little rest, to stock up on energy in order to approach the whole new year.

However, as we celebrate Christmas in moderation, let's take the time to reflect on the meaning of this holiday. Each year, the feast of Christmas gives us the opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We know under what conditions Jesus came into the world, and how he lived. His life is an eloquent example of love, respect and compassion. This is the doctrine of Jesus Christ. It is a doctrine which asks us to love all our neighbors despite their faults since we too have our own faults. This doctrine also requires us to share everything with our neighbors within the limits of our means. A simple smile that we share with a stranger can bring a ray of sunshine to his day. This is the spirit of Christmas. If only we could keep this spirit all year round.

My dear compatriots and friends, while wishing you a very Merry Christmas filled with peace, love and security, I urge you to think of someone here or in my country, who may need a gesture of solidarity. Whatever you do, do it with caution and respect. Wherever you are, whatever you do, always think of HAITI.
