Haiti - Turks and Caicos Islands : 2 illegal Haitian migrants sentenced to more than 2 years in prison 06/02/2020 12:47:52
Two men of Haitian origin Roberto Carlo and Ronal Jvoril, who had already been arrested for the first time in an irregular migration situation, in the Turks and Caicos Islands and sentenced to 6 months in prison and then deported to Haiti, attempted for the second time enter the territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands illegally, in violation of migration laws and were arrested again with another illegal Haitian. They appeared last week before the magistrate who sentenced them to a much harsher sentence due to recidivism. They will each have to serve a sentence of 2 years and 5 months in prison before being deported to Haiti again. Another Haitian national, Gustave Charles, also appeared in court, accused of illegal entry into the territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands and sentenced to 9 months in prison before being returned to Haiti.
