Haiti - Covid-19 : Launch of the Permanent Information Center on the Coronavirus

Monday, the Prime Minister, Joseph Jouthe accompanied by Marie Greta Roy Clément the Minister of Public Health, proceeded to the launch of the Center of Permanent Information on the Coronavirus (CIPC).

From the outset, Jouthe wanted to reassure the Haitian population of the absence, as of the case of Covid-19 confirmed on the national territory.

The CIPC is responsible for carrying out awareness-raising actions, health recommendations, through the media, or the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Communication and under the direction of the Prime Minister's Office. The population will be informed about the prevention, protection and evolution of the coronavirus in the event of a possible appearance and spread of the virus on national soil. To this end, all the necessary resources and expertise are mobilized for a better understanding of this pandemic which threatens the lives of people and the global economy.

"Two telephone lines 4343-3333 and 116, are available to the public for the moment for all information related to the Coronavirus" informed Minister Clément adding "The CPIC will answer all your questions about the Covid-19 but also you will give recommendations for your health. The objectives of the CPIC are to maintain the serenity of the population by making available to them all the information generally any on the disease at this time of propagation of the pandemic of Covid-19 so as not to panic [...] and fight false information related to Covid-19 [...]"

The Minister did not return to the 19 Haitians who returned Sunday from Europe who were placed in quarantine and who are under observation after preliminary medical tests (more details in the next Daily Bulletin of March 17 to come on HL).
