Following the official confirmation by the Government of 2 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country, the Catholic Bishops of Haiti of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti (CEH) in a note, ask "the people of God in general and all the faithful in particular to strictly adhere to the instructions given by the State authorities with a view to preventing the spread of this disease."

Consequently, the Eucharistic and liturgical celebrations (sacraments, offices), prayers and exercises of piety (Eucharistic adoration, Way of the Cross, Liturgy of the Hours, spiritual retreats, training sessions, etc...) or community, parish and diocesan activities with participation of the faithful is suspended until further notice from Friday 20 March.

"Funeral celebrations can take place in the strictest family intimacy.

We ordain that the priests alone celebrate the Eucharist each day without the participation of the faithful by keeping the churches closed. We urge them to pray at home in spiritual fellowship with the Church spread throughout the world.

Other indications will be given to you at the appropriate time.

"Let us live this time of trial in faith, prayer, solidarity and vigilance !

May the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, continue to watch over Haiti !"
