Haiti - Health: NOTICE to pharmacists and the public on Chloroquine

In a circular dated March 31, Dr. Marie Gréta Roy Clément, the Minister of Public Health reminds pharmacist managers and owners of pharmacies that "chloroquine must be dispensed exclusively on presentation of a medical prescription issued by an authorized healthcare professional.

This recall aims to protect the health of the Haitian population from any possible adverse events that may occur following self-medication and/or improper use of this medication, and to guarantee an effective response to the Covid-19 pandemic through country."

The Minister clement relies on the collaboration of Pharmacists and the population for the strict application of this provision.

Let's recall that the recently formed scientific cell https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30384-haiti-politic-creation-of-a-scientific-cell-to-manage-the-covid-19-crisis.html has not yet commented on the treatments of Covid-19 in general and that based on Chloroquine in particular.

Regarding self-medication infectious disease specialist Didier Raoult, warns the use of hydroxychloroquine, a molecule he recommends in combination with an antibiotic, azithromycin, against Covid-19 "Do be careful, don't self-prescribe that. You need a doctor to prescribe it, you need an EKG, and you have your blood potassium tested. You shouldn't improvise, they are e drugs and you have to be very careful"
