Haiti - Covid-19 : Important meeting between PM and representatives of the UN and WHO/PAHO

Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe in his weekly meetings with the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization and (WHO/PAHO) held an important meeting with Helen La Lime, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti and his deputy Bruno Lemarquis and Dr. Luis Codina, WHO/PAHO representative in Haiti.

The care and coordination structure put in place by the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the control and prevention systems at border points, the socio-economic impact of the multifaceted crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, were at the center of exchanges that lasted almost an hour.

This meeting was an opportunity for the Head of Government to reassure international partners of the merits of each measure adopted at the highest level of the State. Measures which aim to give a proportional response capable of slowing the spread of the pandemic on the national territory.

Prime Minister Jouthe also took care to inform the delegation about the finalization of the isolation and care centers for contaminated people, the setting up of the structure responsible for managing, coordinating humanitarian aid, increase the number of nursing staff by providing them with appropriate medical equipment.

At the end of this meeting, the participants reiterated the will of the international community to support the efforts of the Haitian Government in its fight against the Coronavirus Covid-19.
