Haiti - Environment : The Rivière Grise suddenly turns red

Jonas Coffy, the Minister of Commerce, accompanied by Ministers Patrix Sévère (Agriculture) and Abner Septembre (Environment), went to Rivière Grise on Tuesday to see the situation prevailing in this river, which suddenly turned red on Monday following an incident which performed at the company Tropic S.A. Not failing to intrigue the residents...

Tropic S.A. in a press release explains that following "unfortunate handling in its packaging and bottling factories, containers of edible flavors used to make PUNCH juice spilled into the river and gave it this red color."

Inspectors from the Quality Control and Consumer Protection Directorate of the Tamarinier Laboratory of the Ministry of Commerce have taken samples which will be analyzed in the laboratory to determine the nature of the liquid, as well as its possible impact on the environment and on people's lives.
