Haiti - Economy : The DGI announces new tax relief measures

Miradin Morlan, Director General of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), speaking this week at the Center for Permanent Information on Coronavirus (CIPC) on the provisions adopted by the DGI in order to ensure the continuity of operations and services of the tax administration in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, announced new measures adopted in concert with the departmental directors.

Muradin Morlan announced that a moratorium had been granted to taxpayers until June 30, 2020 to fulfill their obligations with the DGI, stating that within this period taxpayers will have to settle the payment of taxes; proceed to the declaration and payment of income tax, without late payment interest or balance sheet fines and pay the Land Contribution of Built Properties (CFPB)

He indicated that other decisions included in the memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance were under study, in particular the establishment of a contingency plan, in relation to the evolution of cases of coronavirus in the country.

He confirmed that all tax collection offices are open and all the usual services are available urging taxpayers to fulfill their civic duties, ensuring that all measures will be taken, to avoid crowds in front of all DGI offices while enforcing the instructions of the health authorities.
