On Wednesday José Tomás Vicuña, Director of the Jesuit Service for Migrants (SJM), severely criticized the tension that has occurred in Quilicura (a city located in the urban area of ​​Santiago in Chile, where many migrants live Haitians in often miserable conditions and overcrowding).

The incident occurred after the population learned that 33 Haitians had tested positive for Covid-19 and transferred to an Isolation Center to be able to carry out their quarantine under adequate conditions, thanks to the efforts of the SJM.

The day was marked by acts of violence and discrimination "I was there for hours and what I saw is racism in this city, it is that Chile has not changed" deplored Vicuña adding "I'm not saying that all Chileans are like that, but they threw stones at them [...] it's inhuman [...]" adding "We have washed our hands a lot, but we still have to wash a lot heart and mouth."
