Haiti - Politic : PM Jouthe promises to solve the problem of contract workers at the Ministry of Youth

On Friday, the Prime Minister, Joseph Jouthe, paid a visit to the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) Max Attys in order to address the various problems faced by the Ministry and find urgent and satisfactory solutions.

On the agenda : the remuneration of 643 contract workers from the Ministry; appointment on the basis of competence and, if necessary the contract workers needs; the purification of the staff list in order to eliminate fictitious positions and contracts and the obligation to have an organic law for the MJSAC.

On the sidelines of this meeting with Minister Attys, the Head of Government met with the staff of the Ministry in order to better understand the cause of their frustrations or their claims. He reiterated the importance of competent and well-treated staff in the success of any institution and regretted that the problem of non-regularization of contract workers' payroll is general within public administration.

According to Prime Minister Jouthe, this question results from the bad decisions routinely taken by leaders who appoint and give contracts to their relatives without worrying about their competence and the real needs of the ministries a practice which for Jouthe must be treated with seriousness in the as soon as possible.

Before leaving the Ministry, Jouthe promised to do everything to pay all of the Ministry's contract workers shortly. Promise that those concerned warmly welcomed. At the same time, he demanded that contract workers suspend all activities which bind them to the Ministry pending the regularization of their status.
