Haiti - Airport incident : Message from the General Administration of Customs

In a statement, the Directorate General of General Administration of Customs (AGD) presents its warm sympathies to the customs officers of the customs hall at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, particularly humiliated and assaulted in the performance of their duties, to the customs officers, to the customs officers in general who support each other, to all passengers and visitors, agents and authorized representatives, present at the time of the outrageous intervention in an area considered sterile by international conventions, of foreign military who, in violation of all rules in force in the matter, weapons in hand and by shot tear gas, they are opposed to customs control, in favor of a dozen of their including a certain Mr. DA COSTA Daniel RAU identified by his passport, arrived by the flight No. 907 of the Insel Air, this Sunday, June 5, 2011 at approximately 5:30 pm.

The AGD indicated to all those who have lived with pain and indignation these difficult times, that it shares their pain and disappointment and wishes that never again of such acts repeats, to destabilize the institution of customs, responsible for enforcement.

The Directorate General of Customs congratulated publicly the customs officers for their calmness which helped prevent the irreparable and for their commitment to remain in the forefront in the defense of the society and in the management of border-related risks, aware of various threats that haunt all states, despite the silence of each other against the unacceptable.
