The Ministry of Education and Professional Training (MENFP) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), organizes the first Summit on Education and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Haiti, on June 17-18 in Port-au-Prince. The goal of this Summit is to foster best practice sharing and collectively support the MENFP in the definition of a cohesive ICT in Education Strategy for the National Education Plan.

The Summit will be organized in interactive plenary sessions. An audience of international organizations, NGOs, academic researchers, recognized experts in the field of education and ICTs, policymakers and professionals are expected to attend. Participants will discuss the future directions for policy, practice and research of ICT for education in Haiti.

The Summit will provide opportunities to:

  • Discuss the key technological, behavioral and policy dynamics shaping the ICT for Education opportunity;

  • Debate the challenges and issues surrounding education in Haiti and how innovation, technology and entrepreneurship could play important roles in transforming the educational system;

  • ighlight the importance of Public-Private Partnerships and linkages to support the education transformation;

  • Spur the formation of the Education Innovation & Workforce Development Initiative for Haiti; an international collaborative effort to support the MENFP to create an appropriate and effective ICT-enabled teaching and learning program in Haiti.

The event highlights, summaries and videos will be archived in a Summit report for consultation. Following the Summit, the MENFP will be in a better position to propose options regarding the integration of ICTs into the Haitian education system.
