Haiti - Social : A bus carrying 20 Haitians intercepted in Bolivia

On Saturday, August 30, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) of Bolivia informed that the Bolivian authorities had intercepted in the town of Pailón (eastern region of Santa Cruz) a bus belonging to a private transport company with 20 Haitians on board (5 men, 12 women and 3 children) whose final destination was Chile.

The DGM reported the event as a possible case of smuggling of migrants in transit to neighboring countries, the 6th to occur in August...

The bus driver and his assistant were arrested and placed at the disposal of the Special Crime Force (FELCC) and the vehicle was also seized.

The group entered Bolivia from Brazil through the Puerto Quijarro border post and headed for the town of Pisiga on the border with Chile.

All Haitians had a passport, even if one of the minors traveled without his parents...

Migration has issued each Haitian an order to leave the territory which will become effective once a 21-day quarantine has been completed in an isolation refuge against Covid-19 in Santa Cruz.
