The large delegation of the Haitian Diaspora Federation (FHD) arrived in Haiti on Thursday https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32336-haiti-politic-mission-of-the-haitian-federation-of-the-diaspora-in-haiti.html held 4 scheduled meetings on Friday in order to submit their grievances to officials of the Provisional Electoral Council, the Advisory Committee on the Revision of the Constitution, the National Identification Office and the Ministry of Affairs Foreigners, for better coordination in their dealings with these institutions.

Louis Gonzague Edner Day, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) attended all meetings in order to be imbued with their difficulties and be able to follow up.

Meeting at the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) :

Discussions focused on the need for the Diaspora to actively participate in all activities of the country. Members of the delegation expressed their desire to return to the country to provide support. The members of the delegation pleaded for the respect of the right of the diapsora to the integration. They believe that the time has come to strengthen the connection of Haitians abroad and those of the "alma mater" and wish to participate in the next electoral contests.

Meeting with members of the Advisory Committee on the Revision of the Constitution :

Members of the delegation called for an inclusive constitution. According to the United Front of the Diaspora, the reform of the Constitution is a social project. The integration of young people from the diaspora is a necessity. You believe that there is a need for a partnership between young people from the land and those from the diaspora. They want to have access to the right to vote.

Meeting at the National Identification Office (ONI):

Haitian nationals in the diaspora would also like to have access to their National identification card. The Director General of the National Identification Office, Jude Jacques Elibert explained to them the importance of this card which allows the Haitian to be traced from birth. To obtain this biometric card, birth certificates and archive extracts are important.

Meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs :

The members of the delegation explained the problems they encounter at the level of Haitian consulates when they wish to obtain official documents such as: extract from nat and passport archives, Judicial Records. They have enormous difficulty obtaining them.

The Diaspora delegation ended this day of discussions with great satisfaction.
