Haiti - Social : Interception of 110 Haitian boat-people by the American Coast Guard

On Tuesday, December 22, the crew of a helicopter from the US Coast Guard air station spotted an overloaded boat about 50 miles north of Cap Haitien. Following the report, the crew of the US Coast Guard vessel "Resolute" intercepted a 40-foot blue boat carrying 110 Haitian boat-people fleeing the misery and violence of Haiti for a better life.

The migrants who wore life jackets were transferred aboard the "Resolute" for safety reasons "Resolute's crew was exceptional in ensuring safety of life at sea, as well as providing around-the-clock care for 110 guests and creating an atmosphere of compassion and dignity prior to repatriation," declared Cmdr. Justin Vanden Heuvel, commander, Coast Guard Cutter "Resolute".

Note that Coast Guard crew members are equipped with personal protective equipment due to Covid-19.
