Haiti - Spain : Ambassador Saintil advocates the involvement of Haitian youth in the development of Haiti

Louis Marie Montfort Saintil, Ambassador of Haiti to the Kingdom of Spain, received last week, Max Trejo Cervantes, Secretary General of the International Youth Organization (OIJ) in order to explore avenues of collaboration between Haitian institutions in this area and the IJO via the PLAN30, which aims not only to create innovative opportunities, in concert with Governments, civil society and the private sector, but also to enable young people from the Ibero Area -american to be at the heart of Haiti's development.

During this meeting was adressed :

Youth rights through the ratification by the Ibero-American States of the International Treaty on Youth Rights with the objective of providing a legal framework and guarantees, in accordance with the principles of Human Rights and also improving the situation of a multitude of young people within the said Space;

Empowerment of young people through a set of concrete actions allowing them to be actors in sustainable development according to the 2030 Agenda;

Multilateralism as a vehicle for the empowerment of young people, builders of a new global reality, with an emphasis on academic and scientific cooperation and digital transformation.

Trejo, for his part, expressed the wish to count Haiti among its partners within the framework of the PLAN30 which plans to reach more than 3 million young people from the Ibero-American Space, a request for incorporation will be sent as soon as possible. to the Haitian authorities.

The Ambassador and the Secretary General said they were satisfied with this first meeting and agreed on the need for a rapprochement between the IJO and the Haitian institutions aimed at complementing the efforts of the Government in the youth component, in particular through the Youth Entrepreneurship Support Program, as well as any other form of academic and technical cooperation, putting the Haitian youth at the heart of the socioeconomic development of the country.
