Haiti - Elections : Partial Senatorial elections in the fall

The mandate of 10 Senators of the Upper House [the Senate] will expire in November 2011. The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), whose the level of credibility is near zero, presided by Gaillot Dorsinvil subject of allegations of fraud and corruption, is preparing a new proposal of electoral law for the realization of the vote this fall to elect or reelect one third of the Senators. According to the prescription of the Constitution, the newly elected will take office on the second Monday of January 2012. According to Pierre Thibault Junior, responsible of the communication to the CEP, the Council is working hard "with partners [lawyers] on the proposal of a new electoral law that will be presented to Parliament [...] We are at a very advanced stage, nearly a dozen people working on it [...]" "The plan is already defined" and the CEP meet with the Head of State as soon as possible, to present the project, said the responsible of the communication of the electoral body.
