Haïti - Politic : «The hour is serious, the threat is real for the country» dixit Minister of the Interior

Louis Gonzague Edner Day, the Acting Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities has started a series of meetings with a view to developing an institutional synergy to effectively combat the phenomenon of insecurity in Haiti.

As part of this process, Minister Day met this week with Léon Charles, the Director General ai of the Haitian National Police (PNH), departmental delegates, as well as other key actors, each having in their domain, obligations of results in the face of banditry, arms and narcotics trafficking, the proliferation of gangs, kidnapping, as well as general insecurity.

These working sessions made it possible to discuss the overall situation and the relevance of the measures to be taken, on the one hand to prevent a deterioration of the situation and secondly to provide elements likely to resolve the problem.

The difficulties were approached from various angles, in order to identify and understand their sources and to provide deep and appropriate solutions. In this sense, negotiations, political issues and manipulations, communication, technology, networking and the use of force, were among others the frameworks of the various interventions.

"The hour is serious, the threat is real for the country, we must together act and be able to turn the tide effectively !" stressed Minister Day.

In addition, the Minister, also number 2 of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) took the opportunity to appeal to the sense of commitment of his interlocutors. He invited them to pool the skills, information and resources available to their staff and institutions, in order to fight against the phenomenon that sows mourning and fear within the population and to work for the restoration of stability, necessary for a restart of country.
