Yesterday Wednesday, the world of star hip-hop and Goodwill Ambassador, Wyclef Jean was decorated during a ceremony at the National Palace, to the rank of Grand Officer of the National Order of Honor and Merit by the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly.

"I have great joy to honor solemnly a son of this land who assumed with strength, conviction and humanity, his quality of Haitian" said the Head of the State, stating that the decoration is awarded to Mr. Jean "as a sign of high consideration national for his dedication to the promotion of Haiti around the world", congratulating at the same time Wyclef Jean for the concrete acts of social solidarity that he undertook.

"The whole country remembers the mobilization of American artists that you have organized to bring a message of hope to the population after January 12, 2010 [ref. We Are the World 25 for Haiti]" added the President of the Republic, "despite all the glory that you received throughout the world, you continue to bring Haiti into your heart and to help the Haitian people [...] you are among the Haitians who make us proud [...] the quote justifying the decoration that you receive as a sign of high consideration national for his dedication to the promotion of Haiti around the world shows how popular is the constant attention and never denied that you show for the national community, and I am sure that this attention will be strengthened because, to get out of the problems that beset the it, Haiti needs the contribution without reserve of its sons, a big thank you on behalf of the entire Haitian people" added the President.
