Haiti - Olympics 2020 : Boxing Darrelle Valsaint Jr. qualified, swimming Davidson Vincent eliminated

As part of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, on Thursday July 28, took place the boxing events (round of 16) and swimming (quarter-final) where the boxer Darrelle VALSAINT Jr. and swimmer Davidson VINCENT represented the colors of Haiti.

BOXING :

At the Arena Kokugikan took place the 8th finals of men's boxing 69-75 kg (middleweight). The Haitian boxer Darrelle VALSAINT Jr. (21) who had qualified without a fight for these 8th by forfeit of his opponent https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34319-haiti-olympics-tokyo-2020-bad-start-for-haiti-calendar-of-competitions.html faced Tshama Mwenekabwe David (24) from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Darrelle VALSAINT Jr. in red won the 4-1 points fight and advanced to the quarter-finals on August 1, 2021, where he will face on the ring the Russian Gleb BAKSHI (25) [37 fights, 28 wins and 9 losses].

SWIMMING :

That same Thursday, at the Tokyo Aquatics Center, lane #8 Davidson VINCENT (19) took part in the 100m butterfly (series 2) with 7 other swimmers. Davidson finished 7th and last in his series with a time of 54.81 seconds, tied with Benjamin HOCKIN of Paraguay and 1.42 seconds behind series winner Abeku JACKSON [53.39 seconds]

In the general classification, Davidson VINCENT finds himself in 51st place with a time superior of 4.42 seconds of the best time of all 8 heats. Only the 16 best times were qualified for the 1/2 final. Davidson is therefore eliminated.
