Faced with the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake of August 14, 2021 in the departments of South, Nippes and Grand'Anse, Jean Baden Dubois, the Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) announced three initial support measures for the benefit of victims.

First measure, setting up a recapitalization program for microfinance institutions in the great South. The amount of the fund will be determined after the evaluation of the microfinance institutions.

The second measure aims to recapitalize micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the southern peninsula.

The third measure concerns a reconstruction fund for people and institutions in the great South. Through this measure, those concerned will have a preferential offer called 5-10-20. They will have to pay 5% down, at an interest rate of 10% per annum over a period of 20 years, specifies the Governor.
