Post-earthquake damage, loss and needs assessment

Simon Dieuseul Desras Minister of Planning launched on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 September 2021 workshops in the 3 departments of the South as part of the post-earthquake damage, loss and needs assessment exercise (PDNA). These workshops, which took place simultaneously, are the basis for the recovery and reconstruction of the southern region. With the collaboration of the World Bank, the European Union, the United Nations, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the American Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) and Swiss Cooperation, the Government has initiated the process of evaluating reconstruction costs.

Transnational crimes

Léon Charles, the Commander of the Haitian National Police met with the former military attaché at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic, Colonel Salomón Sanchez and Colonel Manuel Joaquín Socias who now assumes this function. Charles took stock of the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in order to combat transnational crimes.

Earthquake : WFP has already delivered more than 335 aid trucks

With the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) the logistics operation of the World Food Program (WFP) directs humanitarian convoys transporting food and urgent relief items to the areas affected by the earthquake of August 14th. To date, WFP convoys have delivered more than 335 trucks of medical supplies, food and relief items to help families affected by the earthquake in the departments of Grand Anse, Nippes and South. WFP also delivers supplies via barges where road access is limited.

Earthquake : Demolition and clearing continues

Post-earthquake operations linked to the demolition and clearing of school buildings, health facilities and damaged residences, which represent imminent dangers to the lives of populations, are continuing in the South region.

Canada : Haitian Embassy closed

The Embassy of Haiti in Canada is informing the Haitian community and the general public that its premises will be closed on Thursday, September 30, 2021 on the occasion of the "National Truth and Reconciliation Day". Activities will resume on Friday October 1st, 2021.
