Border closed at Carrizal post

On Wednesday the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CesFront) closed the door of the Carrizal border post (Elías Piña) and reinforced security after noting the presence of individuals carrying heavy weapons on the Haitian side.

The TEC company, looted and vandalized

The business is now closed and 180 employees are unemployed. Former MEP Cholzer Chancy, shareholder of the company, does not believe a resumption of activities in the medium term is possible.

Uzra Zeya wishes the renewal of the mandate of BINUH

Tuesday, Uzra Zeya the Under-Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights on mission in Haiti, announced that she had had an excellent meeting with Cristobal Dupouy the Special Representative of the Organization of American States (OAS), Helen LaLime, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and BINUH, Police Commissioner Serge Therriault on joint efforts to support democratic initiatives in Haiti to improve security and accountability in the face of human rights violations. "I enjoyed hearing more about the OAS’s efforts to improve the resilience of communities and youth to gangs and the work of BINUH to ensure free and fair elections. Haitian diplomacy

On Wednesday October 13, the Haitian Ambassador to France Josué Dahomey received a visit from Senator Bruno Belin, member of the Commission for Regional Planning and Sustainable Development of the French Senate. The two men discussed cooperation projects in the fields of education, health and the environment.

Covid : UNDP donation for penitentiaries

To support the response to Covid-19 in detention centers, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP - Haiti) donated health materials to the Directorate of Prison Administration (DAP) with the financial contribution of the Canadian Embassy in Haiti.

Training on the management of criminal cases

The School of Magistracy supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and "UN Peace building", has started a series of joint police-justice training for the benefit of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and the Ministry of Justice, on the management of criminal cases with a view to improving the fight against prolonged preventive detention.
