Haiti - Politic : Intervention of Prime Minister Henry at the UN 16/10/2021 08:57:15
On Friday afternoon, October 15, Prime Minister Ariel Henry participated in a virtual meeting of the UN Security Council convened by the three non-permanent members of the African Council more Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to discuss the current situation in Haiti https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-34994-icihaiti-un-the-african-council-convenes-the-security-council-on-the-situation-in-haiti.html in which participated among others, Ralph Gonsalves Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, the Dominican Chancellor Roberto Álvarez, the Secretaries General Louise Mushikiwabo of the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF) and Carla Barnett from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Intervention of the Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry : "My main concern has been and still is to do everything possible to bring my country back, as soon as possible, to the normal functioning of democratic institutions. This is the goal that has guided and will continue to guide my actions. I appeal to the patriotic conscience of each other to put an end to our procrastination. Our country is in danger of collapse, which would constitute a tragedy for us and a major concern for our neighbors. As a convinced democrat, I believe it is essential to return to a normal functioning of the institutions, by handing over the leadership of the country to elected officials enjoying the confidence of the population. Widespread mistrust makes it difficult to find agreement even between people who say the exact same thing, but each in their corner with their friends, unable to hear and understand that they have many more points of agreement than of disagreement. I wanted to break down these barriers and transcend political and social divides by talking to everyone." HL/ HaitiLibre
