Haiti - FLASH : The oil terminals of Varreux and Thor have almost no more gasoline

After having delivered from November 16 to 20, 2021 4,616,015 gallons of diesel and 2,856,777 gallons of gasoline (source Evenson Calixte the Director General of the National Regulatory Authority of the Energy Sector), Marc-Antoine Nési, the spokesperson of The National Association of Service Sub-Station Owners (ANAPROSS) informs that there is hardly any gasoline (gasoline) in stock in the terminals of Varreux (Cité Soleil, 70% of the storage capacity of Haiti) and Thor (Carrefour).

On Monday November 22, WINECO (Terminal de Varreux) loaded 133 tankers with 769,492 gallons of diesel; 309,744 gallons of Gasoline and 66,000 gallons of Fuel Oil (HF). Diesel is still available at both terminals but stocks are down. The cause is the panic of consumers who, despite the Government's prohibitions, have made reserves to avoid a new scarcity of fuel, considerably and abnormally increasing the volume requirements of fuels.

Marc-Antoine Nési, affirms that the owners of service stations have no responsibility for the non-supply of gasoline for certain stations and rather points the finger at the officials of the State who according to him, did not order enough gasoline. He said he fears that the crisis will continue with a new fuel shortage if the Government delays in placing new orders.
