Puerto Rico : 13 Haitians repatriated

13 Haitians (8 men, 4 women and 1 minor) in an irregular migration situation, who tried to reach Puerto Rico illegally were intercepted at sea by the coast guards and repatriated Thursday, December 9 in Haiti.

USAID has helped 125,000 farmers

Over the past decade, USAID has helped increase crop yields and farmers' incomes, mobilize investments in agriculture, and improve irrigation systems in Haiti. USAID's investments in agriculture have helped 105,000 farmers adopt new technologies, generating nearly $30 million in agricultural sales. Since 2011, USAID has mobilized more than $15 million in private sector investments in the agricultural sector, which has improved agricultural production and the livelihoods of Haitian farmers.

66% of Haitian children aged 6 to 59 months suffer from anemia

In Haiti, 66% of children aged 6 to 59 months and 49% of women aged 15 to 49 suffer from anemia. To help them, UNICEF is distributing micronutrient powders and Vitamin A supplements to women and children.

Spain : Signature between diplomatic academies

Thursday, December 9, the Ambassador of Haiti to the Kingdom of Spain Saintil Louis Marie met Alberto Antón Cortés, Director of the Diplomatic School of Madrid, around the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Diplomatic Academy Jean Price Mars of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, aimed at strengthening cooperation relations between Haiti and Spain.

PNH South : Summary report

Pierre Yves Lesage, spokesperson for the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in the South, presented a summary of the operations from November 1 to 30, 2021. The police arrested 202 individuals. 93 were arrested under warrant and 109 were caught in the act. Meanwhile, he said a plan to keep people safe during the holiday season is already in place.
