Haiti - Fuel prices : Demonstrations, blockages, violence and vandalism 14/12/2021 09:22:03

Protesters demanded that the government reverse its decision to increase fuel prices. In the metropolitan area of Carrefour Marassa en plain, Pétion-Ville (rue Faubert, Rue Rigaud, Rue Rebecca), Bourdon, traffic was totally paralyzed on several arteries of the capital, using vehicles placed across the road by public transport drivers, particularly at Delmas 60. Barricades of flaming tires, throwing stones and bottles were reported in Pétion-ville but also in Lalue and on avenue John Brown The drivers also blocked the national road #3 at Mirebalais, Belladère and Lascahobas. The police had to intervene to reopen traffic, sometimes without moderation... At Delmas 95. At Delmas 101, unidentified individuals vandalized private vehicles, breaking windshields. Quarrels between passengers and drivers (sometimes violent) are more and more frequent due to the price of the increase in the price of journeys which, despite the Government's assurances that they would remain unchanged, have in reality increased considerably...
