Haiti - Insecurity : Student victims of aggression, the Presidency sets its position

In a press note signed by the lawyer Renel Jean Sanon, Secretary of the Presidency, the Presidency sets its position in regard to the students victims of acts of aggression in the area of ​​the Champs de Mars.

"The General Secretariat of the Presidency has the advantage of set the position of the Presidency, in regard to the cry of the student victims of acts of aggression behalf of bandits who use the accommodation camps as a refuge, after having committed their crimes.

To this end, it was decided to take all appropriate legal action to secure the students and the general population in the area of ​​the Champs de Mars in the strict respect of human rights.

Also, in response to a meeting held with students of Universities, the President is in a position to announce the formation of a joint commission whose mission is to work, based on the recommendations that will be made to the convening authority in order to find a lasting solution to this problem.

As agreed, the commission will be composed of representatives of the following entities :

- The Presidency ;

- The Primature ;

- The Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince ;

- The General Directorate of National Police of Haiti ;

- The Town Hall of Port-au-Prince ;

- Representatives of the student victims"
